UFC 150 took place tonight live from Denver, Colorado, and Lightweight champion Benson Henderson has retained his championship belt in a somewhat controversial split decision over former champ Frankie Edgar. The fight saw Henderson possess an advantage in significant strikes, outlanding Edgar 89 to 62. However, Edgar held a huge advantage in the area of control, with 3 minutes, 15 seconds to a mere 10 seconds by Henderson. Edgar rocked Henderson early in the fight, while the champion landed many leg kicks.

At UFC 142 Edson Barboza ran his record to 10-0 when he stopped Terry Etim at 2:02 of the third round with what was the first spinning wheel kick knockout in UFC history. It was a spectacular finish, straightening Etim’s body as soon as the kick made impact, earning Barboza a handsome bonus for the night as he claimed both “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” honors.

The UFC held UFC on FOX 2 on Saturday night in Chicago. The event took place in front of a sold out United Center and marked the first time the promotion had held an event in the Chicago area since UFC 90 was held at the Allstate Center in Rosemont, IL. During the event Rashad Evans punched his ticket to face UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones with a win over Phil Davis. Chael Sonnen earned a title shot as well, defeating Michael Bisping, setting up a bout against UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson

During 2011, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva was a busy man. In addition to his duties of putting together the fights for every card, he had to deal with a huge number of injuries, which caused him to have to go back and fight replacement fighters for the bouts impacted by injury.
As of now, it looks like that trend is going to continue for Silva heading into 2012. UFC 142 was beset with several injuries and now the upcoming UFC on FOX card, booked for January 28 in Chicago has been hit with the injury bug.
