The UFC injury bug has just crossed over to its “sister” promotion. Former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir has been forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated crossover match with Daniel Cormier.The news has been lighting up Twitter for the past hour:

Today, Strikeforce announced that they are adding 2 new fights to Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy, at the Rose Center in Portland, Oregon set for July 14, reports Yahoo Sports by way of MMA Weekly.
Ryan Couture (4-1), son of Randy Couture will take on Joe Duarte (10-2) in a lightweight bout. This fight is set to take place on the preliminary card available on Showtime Extreme.

Return of the King? Muhammed Lawal signs with Bellator

It appears that Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has found a new home. It was announced today that the suspended fighter has signed with Bellator. The promotion is making a move to Spike TV for its television broadcasts, and with the switch, Lawal will also be appearing on the network’s TNA Wrestling. In a rarely-seen signing of an athlete for both real and unreal fighting, this news comes as a bit of a surprise. Lawal had the following to say via a report from 5thround.com:

On Saturday, January 7, Strikeforce presented their first fight card of 2012. The main event saw Luke Rockhold successfully defend his Strikeforce Middleweight crown against Keith Jardine. In the co-main event, Robbie Lawler recovered from an illegal knee, ending his fight against Adlan Amagov with a knee of his own.
In all, there were nine fights on the card. Of the eighteen competitors, eight escaped without a medical suspension, ten other fighters weren’t so lucky.
