Muhammad Mokaev Makes Bold Claim: ‘I Beat Joshua Van 10/10 Times’

Former UFC flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev believes he beats current UFC champion Joshua Van with ease.

British Dagestani remains one of the best flyweights on the planet yet is still awaiting a return to the premier MMA organisation. The 25 year old boasts a 15-0 professional record with an unbeaten amateur pedigree that stands amongst the best, 23-0. The hype coming into his UFC debut back in March 2022 was warranted and he could not have asked for a more explosive debut victory against Cody Durden.

Unfortunately, after rising through the division and getting to 7-0 within the UFC they decided to cut Mokaev. It is well documented that behind the scenes there were some issues that appeared unresolvable and the UFC parted ways with the phenom. In a professional manner, Mokaev has learned and improved continuously remaining active on his quest top return to the top table of MMA. He was set to feature on the Rousey vs Carano MVP card live on Netflix back in May against fellow elite flyweight Adriano Moraes in a high profile matchup but visa issues spoiled that opportunity.

Now in Madrid this Saturday he faces off with a veteran, Jorge Calvo. Hailing from Costa Rica with a record of 20-7 the experience is on the side of Calvo but no previous opponent of his has ever been on the level of Mokaev.

When talking about a potential UFC return Mokaev discussed the current flyweight division and its champion, Joshua Van. “I believe because I had 7 fights with the best organisation in the world and right now there’s four guys in the top 15 list, one of those is ranked number 2 who I already beat. If I was losing maybe like 50/50 I would never be thinking maybe I come back but when you beat everybody there and how confident I can be champion today.”
