Ex-Paratropper Michael Oliveira Steamrolls Oban Elliott In Dream Octagon Debut At UFC Belgrade
Michael Oliveira announced himself to the UFC in spectacular fashion.
Making his long-awaited Octagon debut, the unbeaten Brazilian wasted little time stopping Oban Elliott with a devastating first-round TKO at UFC Belgrade.
Elliott came out aggressively, finding success with sharp right hands in the opening exchanges while looking to pressure the newcomer early. Oliveira, however, remained composed, patiently reading the Welshman’s movement and using subtle feints to set up his counters.
The momentum shifted in an instant. Oliveira clipped “The Welsh Gangster” with a crisp left hand that sent him crashing to the canvas, immediately showcasing the explosive power that earned him a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series last year.
Sensing the finish, “PQD” gave his opponent no chance to recover. He followed up with a crushing right hand before unleashing a barrage of ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to stop the contest at 1:49 of the opening round.
The emphatic performance marked the ideal UFC debut for the Brazilian prospect, who improved to 10-0 as a professional. Michael Oliveira earned his UFC contract with a KO over Victor Valenzuela on DWCS last year.
