Max Holloway praises Conor McGregor following UFC 329 main event
UFC star Max Holloway has praised Conor McGregor in the wake of the controversial ending to their UFC 329 main event.
At UFC 329, Max Holloway technically defeated Conor McGregor in the first round of their welterweight clash. Of course, we say technically, because it came as a result of an injury that Conor appeared to pick up in the opening seconds of the fight. Even then, some fans and fellow fighters have suggested that it looked like he was carrying an injury even prior to the bout getting underway.
Max Holloway, meanwhile, is focused on achieving his own goals, which includes making another push for gold at the elite level. While the fight may not have played out the way he desired, he still got to get another win under his belt – and who knows, maybe there’s a chance they run it back in a trilogy one day.
In a recent tweet, Max Holloway reflected on how things played out at UFC 329.
Max Holloway reflects on Conor McGregor fight
“Not the outcome we wanted but Gods plan is always the right one. Thank you Conor for fight. Took a lot to make that walk after these past few years. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery. Shout out to my family, team , friends and blessed expressers for the support. What a life we live. See at the next one.”
Some may be a bit surprised by this approach from Max given the knocks that Conor has had to his reputation over the course of the last few years. Alas, the former BMF champion is an absolute warrior, and he would have wanted to go out there and put on a real show instead of what actually happened.
As for McGregor, it’s hard to say what exactly will be next for him, but we can’t imagine we will be seeing another fight on the horizon for the Irishman. With one fight left on his deal, though, perhaps his goal is to get out of his contract as quickly as possible before moving on to something new. Either way, there’s a lot on the table, even after this disaster.
