Korean Zombie Suffered Shattered Eye Socket Against Jose Aldo

As if things weren’t going bad enough for Chan Sung Jung, who separated his shoulder during his unsuccessful title challenge at UFC 163, news has now emerged that The Korean Zombie has suffered a shattered eye socket.

According to KZ’s manage Brian Rhee, via Fox Sports, his fighter may be facing an even longer lay off than first suspected. A shattered orbital bone is one hell of a painful injury, and it speaks volumes about how tough Jung really is.

Aldo didn’t get away uninjured either, after breaking his foot in round ones, Aldo emerged victorious by TKO, but was later hospitalised for kidney stones. I can’t remember the last fight that I saw which included such a laundry list of injuries in its wake.

Zombie is no stranger to injury, as he recently came off a 15 month injury setback following shoulder surgery. He may even face the same fate this time around, depending on the severity and extent of his war wounds.

KZ is a true testament to the grit of a warrior, he really does put his body on the line when he fights, I just hope it doesn’t start catching up to him too soon. We’ve seen fighters with huge talent go from a champion to a punching bag within two fights, and I hope that Jung is able to make his way back to the big leagues soon.

As for Aldo, I think he should consider moving to lightweight for a superfight. He cuts so much weight in the lead up to his fights, and I would be very interested in seeing Aldo vs. Bendo/Pettis in a battle of the WEC veterans.
