Another early Sunday morning, another UFC fighter cuffed up and in the holding cells. This time UFC bantamweight Juliana Pena has been pinched on a late night charge of assault outside a bar in Spokane, Washington, where she lives. The report originally came from a witness who posted the story on the Sherdog forums, and was later confirmed by this police report:

The fifth-ranked Venezuelan bantamweight was the first female fighter to win The Ultimate Fighter, doing so in 2013. She has a professional record of 7-2 and her current win streak stands at three, two by TKO. The UFC statement reads as such:

‘We are aware of the situation with UFC fighter Juliana Pena, and are in the process of gathering more information.’

Joining the ranks of Jon Jones, BJ Penn and many other famous fighters that got pinched, Pena could be in a bit of trouble here. Providing the charges stand, she could well be in breach of the UFC’s code of conduct.

Of course the promotion has been known to loosen the iron clad rules for certain fighters, but would Pena fall in to that category?

That said, we still don’t have all the details on these alleged assaults. Perhaps she was defending herself?
