Jon Jones isn’t certain about fighting rising contender Thiago Santos in his next title defense as UFC light heavyweight champion. This comes after UFC President Dana White made it known that he would love to see this fight.

Over the last few years, he has been sidelined for various things and hasn’t fought frequently. It all started after pulling off a victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in 2015. This was due to his troubles outside of the Octagon. Since then, he’s only fought a handful of times. He holds wins over Ovince Saint Preux, Cormier again, and of course Alexander Gustafsson.

The champ was able to secure a unanimous decision win over Anthony Smith in the headliner of the UFC 235 pay-per-view event. This show went down on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

While talking with the media at the post-fight press conference, Jones addressed a possible fight against Santos.

“Whoever it may be, I’m ready to take them all,” Jones said courtesy of MMAJunkie. “I think all these younger fighters should get their opportunity at a world title. When you’re sitting in my position, it’s like, who am I to deny people?

“At the end of the day, I feel like this is my time, my era, and I was meant to be here to be a great, great champion,” Jones said. “This belt here is supposed to be covered in red rubies. And I got a new challenge to get this thing covered in red rubies – and that means I got to beat a lot of ass, and I’m up for the challenge.”
