Heavy handed top 10 middleweights Ronald Jacare Souza and Yoel Romero look to be on a 2015 collision course…..

Number two ranked UFC middleweight Ronald Jacare Souza has been on a hot streak since joining the UFC back in 2013; the Black House MMA product has finished Chris Camozzi, Yushin Okami and Gegard Mousasi during his four-fight spree, and is being widely considered as the next contender to the middleweight title.

Similarly, number six ranked Yoel Romero has been smashing competition at 185 pounds, racking up five wins with four finishes since joining from Strikeforce in 2013. According to a report from UFC Tonight, the two are being linked to a number one contender match in January or February of 2015, so much for Jacare vs Henderson then?

“I spoke to his manager, and they asked the UFC for a fight in January or February. They want a top-five guy, a title-contender fight. I asked about Jacare Souza, and they said they would take it. I contacted Jacare and he said yes, he’d take the fight if it was a number-one contender fight.”

“Soldier Of God” was last seen competing against Tim Kennedy at UFC 178, where he scored a brutal, and somewhat controversial TKO win in the last round. Looking at the UFC rankings as they stand, the proposed title contender fight makes sense between Jacare and Romero, but what about Bisping vs Rockhold on November 8th?

If “Rocky” beats “The Count” you could argue a case for him, although he’d only be on a three fight streak. Bisping would make it two on the bounce if victorious in Sydney, Australia, so perhaps a contender fight between Souza and “SOG” is the fight to make?
