Israel Adesanya supports Conor McGregor in a recent incident that garnered headlines last week.

The rising contender is slated to meet title contender Kelvin Gastelum inside of the Octagon in the main event of UFC 236. During a recent interview with Submission Radio, Adesanya gave his take on the latest incident involving the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.

McGregor has been in the headlines since last week and for all the wrong reasons. He was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida on charges of strong-arm robbery and criminal mischief. The charges carried bonds of $7,500 and $5,000.

For Adesanya, he thinks that McGregor was in the right in this case due to no one having the right to get up in his face and start filming him.

“I don’t know what happened. People are saying, look, it’s 5 a.m. and whatever. He was doing this and that. I don’t give a f— if you see anyone, anywhere, doing anything; it doesn’t give you the right to just kind of run up on them with a phone,” said Adesanya (H/T to MMAWeekly).

“I’ve had that on personal levels in the past when I’m hanging out with someone. We’re hanging out at a party and all of a sudden I start seeing phones. You know, when you text, there’s a little angle with the texting, but then when you see the phone filming it’s just like, why are you guys filming me? Like, what the f—? And one of them was like, oh, we just wanted a pic. Well, f—ing ask, don’t just start filming me secretly.”

The UFC 236 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET and the the UFC’s streaming service, Fight Pass.
