Hometown Hero Kenny Mokhonoana Gets The Win at Cage Warriors 200

Kenny Mokhonoana hoped to get his second Cage Warriors victory in his home city of Dublin.

Early into round one Mokhonoana secured a takedown and took the back of Ogborne. He controlled the Bristolian lightweight for a few minutes while working towards a choke. Ogborne broke free with just under a minute left of the round and survived to see the stool. Mokhonoana takes the first round at Cage Warriors 200.

The second round started in electric fashion with both men crashing forward, Mokhonoana caught Ogborne on the eye with a shot which troubled Ogborne. Moments later the Irishman has control again in the grappling exchanges. Halfway through the round the Dubliner had shifted into half guard but was unable to cause any real damage to his opponent. He attacked a d’arce choke however Ogborne survived the round once again. A late flurry from the Englishman was not enough to sway the round.

Both men were drained in the third and the grappling exchanges were far more laborious at the start of round 3. Ogborne was on top with 3 minutes left of the round with a finish needed to get the win. Referee Rich Mitchell encouraged both fighters to work as the round began to drag out. Ogborne got the back in the final minute of the fight but failed to find a submission.
