Following two consecutive losses to Jon Jones and Phil Davis, 35-year-old light heavyweight Glover Teixeira had his back up against a wall heading into his main event against hometown favorite Ovince St. Preux at last night’s (Sat., August 8, 2015) UFC Fight Night 73 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Brazilian bruiser responded with the gameplan of a true professional, grounding ‘OSP’ with a mix of effective takedowns despite some big punches from St. Preux. It was a back-and-forth slugfest that won ‘Fight of the Night’ as Teixeira ultimately came out on top with his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu skills, ending ‘OSP’s’ night early with a third round submission.
With the win, Teixeira put his name back into mix for a title shot in the incredibly shallow UFC light heavyweight division. Watch the video highlights of his bounceback win above.
