Diego Lopes has knocked out Steve Garcia to kickstart UFC Freedom 250 with a bang.
The former UFC featherweight title challenger did not have a strong opening round and was getting outstruck as Garcia controlled the pace early, landed the cleaner shots, and kept Lopes on the back foot. Both fighters were willing to trade and connected with heavy strikes throughout.
However, Lopes remained composed despite facing adversity and being unable to find rhythm. In the second round, he landed a perfectly timed left hook that rocked “Mean Machine” and sent him crashing to the canvas.
Smelling blood, Lopes with relentless ground and pound, sent Garcia to the shadow realm and secured a knockout victory to return to winning ways.
