Donald Cerrone Calls BS On Myles Jury’s Undefeated Status

Myles Jury and Donald Cerrone will square off as the UFC 182 co-main event this weekend (Saturday December 13th, 2014) and there is a lot at stake. The skinny on this fight is that “Cowboy” and “Fury” are on the same path right now, and it leads to a potential title shot. Ceroone is currently on a five-fight spree, and faces an undefeated prospect in Jury.

“Fury” has gone 6-0 for the UFC, extending his overall record to 15-0. “Cowboy”, however, is not buying Jury’s moniker of undefeated contender, as he explains to MMAJunkie.com:

“He’s undefeated because they counted his ass whooping as an exhibition match,” Cerrone said. “He’s not undefeated in my book. He got beat. If he’s this new-age fighter and the baddest motherf-cker on the planet like he says, then why didn’t he get through the dudes on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’?”

“I wouldn’t say I’m gunning for the kid,” Cerrone said. “His win over Diego (Sanchez), him saying, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I beat him that easy,’ that he’s ‘taking out veterans’ and that’s what he does – I didn’t like it. I don’t dislike him more than anybody else I would say, but now it’s time to prove it.”

It appears that “Cowboy” has no particular vendetta against “Fury”, rather that he resents how the promotion is pushing him as unbeaten. Al Iaquinta was the fighter who defeated Jury during his stint on The Ultimate Fighter 15, by a split decision. Cerrone might be right in his assessment of Fury’s record, but TUF fights are only classed as exhibition so there isn’t much to be done there. He continues:

“As soon as I get through Myles, I’m going to be on the mic calling out whoever,” Cerrone said. “Hopefully Khabib (Nurmagomedov) is ready because there’s a lot of talk about this Khabib dude. I’ve tried to fight him twice now, so I’m ready for a third time.”

“There were things I should have done different when I fought (Pettis), but I’m not making excuses,” Cerrone said. “The son of a bitch kicked me hard, and I had no answer. I just crumbled. When I face him again, I will be ready this time.”

Expect a huge fight for either Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone or Myles “Fury” Jury after UFC 182. They will have put themselves well and truly in the mix if either can get the finish in Las Vegas, Nevada. What will be the deciding factor, youth and vigor or experience and skill?
