Diego Sanchez wants to face Takanori Gomi in Japan

Diego Sanchez could care less about walking into enemy territory. After spending much of 2012 on the sidelines with an injury, The Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner is determined to make a splash when he returns to the Octagon in 2013.

Sanchez took to his Twitter to call out former Pride FC fighting sensation, Takanori Gomi. To sweeten the pot, Sanchez said he wants to fight Gomi in his backyard when the UFC heads to Japan for the upcoming UFC on FUEL card on March 2nd.

“Might have a fight lined up for March 2,” Sanchez said on his Twitter. “Just waiting on the man Joe Silva to see if Mr. Fireball Kid takes it?”

Gomi is coming off a big win in China when he scored a split decision in a “Fight of a Night” performance against Mac Danzig. Before that, Gomi scored a TKO in Japan against Eiji Mitsuoka in February. Sanchez is looking to make his return to lightweight for the first time since 2009 when he lost a bloody scrap with BJ Penn.

It will be interesting to see if the UFC takes Sanchez up on his offer.
