Heading into his blockbuster title fight against longtime champion Jose Aldo in the main event of July 11’s UFC 189 from Las Vegas, Irish superstar Conor McGregor’s popularity is understandably at an all-time high.

After a 10-city media tour to promote the fight, McGregor is in the public eye more than almost any other mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter not named Ronda Rousey, and his appeal is reaching fans everywhere from his native Ireland to every corner of the world.

Companies have taken notice of this, and “The Notorious” one signed a huge endorsement deal with Reebok, the athletic apparel giant who will provide all UFC fighters with their company-mandated uniforms starting at UFC 189.

Today, another big company (although not quite as big) has decided to make the high-energy McGregor one of their spokesmen, and it looks like a perfect fit. The confident star tweeted out an announcement that he has joined the Monster Energy team today:

It’s hard to say that McGregor needs any energy drinks, yet he should be a natural fit to endorse them.

He’s talked and fought his way to a title shot in the stacked featherweight division faster than anyone ever has before, and his worldwide appeal has made him one of the most marketable stars in UFC history.

That could all come crashing down to Earth with one punch from Aldo this summer, but right now, “Notorious” is cashing in on his massive fame like few if any fighters have before.

Will that grow to an even bigger scale when he participates in 2015’s biggest MMA fight, or has his fame already reached its peak?
