Chris Billam-Smith Forces Ryan Rozicki to Retire After Sixth-Round Onslaught – Zuffa Boxing 7 Highlights
Chris Billam-Smith stole the show at Zuffa Boxing 7, delivering a performance that forced his opponent, Ryan Rozicki, to call it quits after round seven.
Rozicki came out firing on all cylinders, walking down CBS and mixing up his strikes. However, CBS found a nice moment late in the opening round, connecting with a right that opened up a cut over Rozicki’s left eye. Still, it was Rozicki’s relentlessness that was the talk of the stanza, securing him the round on the scorecards.
Rozicki had another big round in the second, but repeated use of his head resulted in a point being deducted.
However, the tide would start to turn in the third after CBS rocked Rozicki with a vicious uppercut that had the Canadian on wobbly legs. Rozicki would ultimately survive the round and deliver a solid bounce-back performance in the fourth, but it was all CBS in the fifth.
Billiam-Smith had Rozicki rocked once again in the sixth before unleashing at least a dozen punches with both hands, desperately looking for a highlight-reel finish. Rozicki made it out of the round, but it was clear that a finish was imminent.
After absorbing a slew of punishment in the seventh, Rozicki’s corner had finally seen enough. They threw in the towel just before the eighth round, handing Billam-Smith the 22nd victory of his professional boxing career.
