Cathal Pendred Not Happy With Joe Rogan’s Comments

Cathal Pendred (16-2-1) has only had three fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and he’s already grown tired of Joe Rogan’s commentary. The Irish bruiser is set to compete against Augusto Montano (15-1) this Saturday night (June 13, 2015) at UFC 188 in Mexico. “The Punisher” would like Rogan to be a bit kinder when speaking of his performance this go-around.

Pendred’s beef with Rogan stems from his controversial UFC Fight Night 59 win over Sean Spencer (12-4). “The Punisher” eked out a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) over “Black Magic.” Pendred spoke with on why he wasn’t exactly enamored with Rogan’s commentary during the fight:

“The thing that was most insulting was by the last minute of the last round, Joe Rogan was talking about how bad my cardio was and how exhausted I was, as I was taking down my opponent. I was taking down my opponent who was doing nothing, and (Rogan) was talking about how tired I was.”

To make matters worse for “The Punisher,” he believes Rogan’s comments swayed others into believing the fight was one-sided in favor of Spencer:

“That annoyed me a little bit, and I definitely think it had a subconscious effect on people that were watching,” he said. “Particularly when there’s someone talking about every bad thing I do and every good thing my opponent does, it’s going change people’s perception. To make it even worse, Rogan came on and said (the decision) was a complete robbery.

Rogan isn’t known to mince words and has shown no signs of changing his style. His job is to observe what is happening inside the Octagon and speak on what he is seeing and what he feels fighters are doing right or wrong. One thing seems clear, if Pendred wants to avoid criticism from Rogan this Saturday, he’s going to have to put on a better performance than his last outing.
