Vitor Belfort vs Chris Weidman has been a topic of much conversation this year, and not just because it’s a great championship fight. Indeed, TRT and PEDs have helped fuel some fiery debates about UFC 184 (formerly UFC 173), and the twists keep coming in this tale.

After the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) had promised to rigorously test Belfort after granting him a license to fight, we then learned that the Brazilian striker hasn’t submitted samples for at least three months. Also, the bout with Weidman with be going down in California.

So what’s with the break in testing, and surely the NSAC will be looking to wipe that egg from their collective faces ASAP? Well, according to a report on Yahoo Sports, “The Phenom” was accosted by the NSAC this week in Florida and they asked for blood and urine samples.

The report states that Belfort complied with both requests, and that the results will be available in approximately two weeks. It’s understood that the California Commission will also want to check Belfort’s cleanliness upon his arrival to the West Coast.

So it looks as though the NSAC are finally making good on their promise to keep tags on “The Phenom”, and let’s hope we don’t lose yet another huge fight because of doping. Stay tuned for more news on the NSAC-PED war as it progresses.
