UFC Fight Night 74 went down this evening (August 23, 2015) live on FOX Sports 1 from Saskatoon, SK, Canada, and although the event ended in a somewhat anticlimactic way, there were still some exciting moments.

Veteran welterweights Patrick “The Predator” Cote, and Josh Burkman did battle on the main card, and what a fight it was. Cote started off strong with the Canadian crowd behind him, landing some huge shots, and seemingly taking the first two rounds. However, a switch seemed to flick for Burkman, as he came out firing in the final frame, but it was a short lived spurt, as Cote floored him with a huge right hand, ending the bout.

Both men were awarded a $50, 000 “Fight of the Night” bonus for their efforts.

In the featured prelim bout, Frankie Perez, teammate of former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, took on MMA veteran Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout. Perez put on a fantastic showing, blasting Stout with a huge shot, followed by a flurry of strikes to earn a first-round TKO victory. Although it was shocking that Perez announced his retirement at age 26, he will leave with a well-deserved $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus.

Earlier on the preliminary portion of the card, Felipe Arantes took on Yves Jabouin, and Arantes was able to get the job done early, scoring a first-round arm bar finish. Along with his submission win, Arantes also took home a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus.
