It seems as if it’s the end of the road for a certain Irish UFC welterweight. Although only 28 years old, Cathal Pendred has announced his retirement from competitive mixed martial arts (MMA) competition.

After winning four straight inside of the Octagon, Pendred dropped his last two bouts, a split-decision loss to John Howard, and most recently a knockout loss to Tom Breese.

Despite being young, the Irish native, who took to his official twitter account to break the news, said that his passion for fighting just wasn’t there anymore. Pendred made it clear that he would remain involved in the sport and with his teammates, but noted that we wouldn’t see him competing any more:

Do you agree with Pendred’s decision to hang up the gloves, or do you think that he may have more left in the tank?
