UFC Fight Night 41 Post Fight Bonuses & Attendance

With Fight Night 41 in the books, the UFC announced that four fighters from the card in Berlin, Germany, were to go home with an extra $50,000 for their efforts. There was no ‘Fight of the night’ awarded, rather four ‘Performance of the night’ awards. Magnus Cedenblad received one such award for his submission win over Krzystof Jotko, Niklas Backstrom was also in receipt of a bonus for his bully choke over Tom Niinimaki.

C.B. Dollaway got a 50K boost for his decision win over Francis Carmont, as did Gegard Mousasi for his business-like submission win over Mark Munoz in the main event. Am I the only one thinking that Iuri Alcantara should have received a bonus either as well as, or instead of C.B. Dollaway? Taking nothing away from the effort that Dollaway put in, it wasn’t exactly the most thrilling of fights. And did the UFC forget about Andy Ogle and Maximo Blanco’s war?

The UFC also announced that the live attendance figures were 8,000, and that the event was aimed 370 million households worldwide. One big message that I’m taking from these stats is that the U.S is not the only viable market for the sport of MMA, in fact, the rest of the world has caught up very rapidly in recent times. More impressive undercard showings like tonight will help solidify the UFC’s global domination expansion.
