UFC 168 Presentation: The Reveal Of ‘Fight Pass’ And UFC’s Future

The Fertitta Brothers and Dana White were on hand to talk at tonight’s UFC 168 special presentation, discussing the future of the world’s biggest MMA promotion. They discussed the expansion of the UFC in to the worldwide market. The topic of discussion was ‘UFC Fight Pass’.

The skinny is that the UFC putting all of its content in one place, providing exclusive footage and coverage of events that are ‘not available anywhere else’. The UFC is putting a lot of stock in the digital market. The promotion is offering a free trial of the ‘new age of MMA’, and Dana White stepped in to clarify a few questions.

DW told fans that ‘unless you have the UFC Fight Pass, you won’t get to see some live fights including Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva’. One question I have is that PPV shows aren’t included, so why the extra $10 for fans that could pay $60 per month already? Dana Said this:

‘You know I hear a lot of chirping about “oh the NFL doesn’t do that,” I say well the NFL makes 9 Billion a year on their TV deal. When Fox pays us 9 Billion, I won’t do PPV’s I promise.’

Dana White Discusses how events will be on in other countries, and that the rest of the countries in the world will need a UFC Fight Pass to watch these shows. What does this mean? One thing is for sure, the UFC stands to make a ton of cash from this move. I don’t think I like where this is going.
