UFC on FUEL TV 4: Fighter Bonuses and Attendance

The attendance and post-fight bonuses have been announced for tonight’s UFC on Fuel TV 4: Munoz vs. Weidman. from the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California. Bonuses of $40,000 each, were awarded for Submission of the Night, Knockout of the Night and Fight of the Night to Alex Caceres, Chris Weidman, Joey Beltran and James Te Huna. The total bonus payout for this event came to $160,000.

UFC President Dana White gave the attendance as 4,250 at the post fight press conference and said: “It was a great event here tonight. It was for FUEL, and on a Wednesday in the middle of the day, to do a $163,000 gate is good.” The live gate was $163,495.

The $40,000 bonuses were issued as follows:

Knockout of the Night:
The Knockout of the Night Bonus went to Middleweight Chris Weidman for his TKO victory over Mark Munoz in the Main Event. In the second round, Weidman blasted Munoz in the forehead with a huge elbow followed by a hailstorm of punches to Munoz’s face before referee Josh Rosenthal stopped the bout due to TKO. After the fight, Weidman asked for a title shot: “I want Anderson Silva, I’d love a shot at the man. I really think I could do pretty good.”
 
Submission of the Night:
The Submission of the Night Bonus went to Alex Caceres for an impressive off his back triangle choke submission over Damacio Page at 1:27 in the second round.

Fight of the Night:
The Fight of the Night bonus went to James Te Huna and Joey Beltran in the Co-Main Event. In this fight’s first round, Te Huna set a record for significant strikes thrown in a single round in a Light Heavyweight bout: 71. When it was over, the two set another record for a Light Heavyweight fight by throwing a combined 206 significant strikes. Te Huna won by unanimous decision.
