UFC on FOX 21 emanated from the Rogers Center in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and the action-packed main card did not disappoint. In a de facto number one contender bout, jiu-jitsu ace Demian Maia submitted hard-nosed striker Carlos Condit in the first round. In doing so, he snatched a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus and the accompanying $50,000.
The rest of the bonuses came on the main card as well.
’12 Gauge’ Paige VanZant took home the other ‘Performance of the Night’ with her jaw-dropping flying switch kick knockout of Bec Rawlings. She can add the $50,000 bonus money to her haul from Dancing With The Stars.
The ‘Fight of the Night’ went to slugfest champions Joe Lauzon and Jim Miller. The two lightweights kicked off the main card in style, with the type of back-and-forth brawl we have come to expect from them. It may not have been a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate like their first go around in 2012, but it was the consensus best scrap on the card. Miller again emerged victorious, this time by split decision. The action fighters took home a cool $50,000 apiece for putting on such a great show.
