News has broke today that the next season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil will feature two of the most decorated jiujitsu artists in the history of MMA. Yesterday, Ken Pavia, the CEO of Super Fight League, announced via MMAJunkie.com that UFC veterans Jeff Monson (46-13-1) and Todd Duffee (7-2) will headline the promotion’s September 8 card in Bangalore, India. Monson is riding a 3-fight win streak with one draw since his November loss to Fedor Emelianenko by way of unanimous decision. UFC 147 is in the books from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and Rich Franklin versus Wanderlei Silva delivered a good bout, although it may not have been what the Brazilian fans were rooting for.
The first round began with Wanderlei Silva landing a hard right followed by an exchange. Franklin grabbed a kick, then controlled the action against the cage by landing shots. In the second round Franklin continued to stalk his opponent. Wanderlei reversed the action and dropped Franklin, landing some ground-and-pound.
Today’s UFC 147 weigh-ins took place at Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. For the first time in UFC history, the promotion is issuing refunds to fans who purchased tickets to UFC 147 in Brazil. A spate of training-related injuries and a repeatedly altered fight card has lead to a flurry of complaints from fans who bought tickets to see a very different promotion from the one that has materialized.
