James Toney feels ready for Captain America
Posted on March 5, 2010, 10:33 AM by NinjaJames Toney holds a professional boxing record of 72-6-3-2, 44 of those wins coming via knockout, recently signed with the UFC and he isn't afraid to fight anyone.
"Let me tell you something, I came to the UFC to do one thing and that’s to fight the best out there. If it’s Couture, so be it. If it’s somebody else, so be it. Let’s get it on and popping. When Dana White said MMA fighters are better than boxers, come on now, you know better than that."
"I’m going to destroy these dudes. If Randy Couture put on his Twitter page that he wants to see me, tell him it ain't shit. Let’s make it happen. If not in June, he can be the one after that."
His goal is simple, to prove to the world the boxers are better than MMA fighters, that is going to be a tough thing to prove especially when he has no wrestling or BJJ background and in a mixed martial art fight ground game is half the fight. However, Toney believes that if anyone tries to take him down they will get knocked out before they touch him.
"The fights start standing and that’s my comfort zone all day, you heard me. If they think they going to rush me to the ground and think it’s going to be easy and I don’t know what I’m doing, come on man. I’m a very strong man. I know what I have to do and if they shoot in on me, they getting launched into outer space like a satellite."
Toney is rumored to make is MMA debut either at UFC 115 or 116, no official opponent has been anounced but rumors are flying around that Kimbo Silce, Randy Couture and even Forrest Griffin could be his possible opponents.

This guy is way to cocky, and he already f'd up by picking a boxing coach instead of a wrestling or bjj coach, if he fight couture hes gonna get wrecked on the ground

This boxer needs to face an excellent Wrestler/BJJ fighter...A non-professional boxer like Kimbo will be knocked down by Toney...After all, the guy is a world champ...(You all remember how quickly Mercer disposed of Silvia...That should be a lesson to any MMA fighter who underestimates the striking power of a boxer...)

1) Randy Couture. (It would be a collision between legendary titans and a Big Draw and money maker!!)
2) Valasquez (He's tireless, an outstanding wrestler, and he'll strike with the best. Only problem, he's still unknown to most non MMA fans and won't draw the attention of the boxing fans).
3) Damien Mia...Someone suggested this guy. Why not? He'll choke Toney out...

I don't like Randy for toney, cos Randy's bin caught too many times lately and bin really rocked. Yes he recovered and more often then not won the fight but with the power of toney, Randy has a big chance of going down. I hope he can use his wrestling before its too late.
Then again, it would be a lovely sight to see Randy ground n' pound toney's face and get a TKO.

It makes me sad that we have so many good mma fighters without a contract and others that are really well rounded but fighting in preliminar cards (Bonnar, for example) or crapy organizations, while these guys all of a sudden decide to become mma fighters and get ufc main card contracts.

An old, out of shape, past his prime ,Toney is the wrong fighter to prove that boxers are better than mma fighters. His case would be more convincing if in the last three years, he did dominate everyone in boxing,so he decided 2 forfit the heavyweight belt, because he became bored & needed a new challenge, but instead he got too fat & couldnt 'buy' a fight. BUT I DO WISH THE BROTHA GOOD LUCK

well bonnar hhhmmmm not that well rounded, i know that if he gets a good wrestler or bjj guy he probably will get owned but lets face it, his boxing record is outstanding

yep, in one way, its a shame that they roll the red carpet for a guy that have everything to prove in mma. But on the other side, you all know that its the money that run any buisness. And like it or not, Toney will bring a big audience. yep, we all agreed that there is better and more deserving figthers that deserve a shot at the UFC but as long as guy like him or kimbo draw big numbers they will keep coming.
Like him or hate him, like brock, if ppl tune in to see him get destroyed as long as they watch... its sad, but its the way it is

I think this guy has a good chance of whoopin some ass. Brock came in one dimensional and shortly became champ. Toney could be a killer in the octogon, especially if he humbles himself enough to train some wrestling, bjj etc...otherwise we shall see

Randy started as a WRESTLER in sports, perhaps if he started in boxing his career would be different, pull your head out of your butt, if Randy took him down, he might as well tap out & I bet he would rather than have the ballz to actually go to sleep(he'd panic) get choked out.
