UFC Fight Night 107 Preliminary Results: Joseph Duffy Outlasts Reza Madadi

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display today (Saturday, March 18th, 2017) will come from in the form of UFC Fight Night 107. Headlining the card are Jimi Manuwa and Corey Anderson, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Joseph Duffy vs. Reza Madadi in a lightweight bout closes the preliminary card. In round 1, Madadi scored a takedown in the opening minute of the round. Duffy gets on top in the scramble. Reza went for a slam and couldn’t keep control. Duffy able to pass to side control, dropped a hard knee to the body.Duffy stacking Madadi against the cage and opens him up with an elbow to the forehead.In round 2, side kicks for Duffy to open the round. Duffy pressuring, trying to pick his shots on the feet. Jab giving Madadi problems. Duffy scores with punches and kicks with Madadi backed to cage. He stuffs a single leg. Madadi’s face is bloodied. Madadi finally gets in on the hips and gets Duffy down briefly. Duffy lands combo. In round 3, Duffy grinding with his head in the clinch, then breaks with an elbow. Another hook kick. Madadi wings an overhand, eats a 1-2. Duffy’s scoring with everything he throws, picking away at Madadi. Duffy stuffs a shot. They exchanged to the bell. Duffy picked up the decision win.

Francimar Barroso vs. Darren Stewart is next in a light heavyweight bout. In round 1, Barroso kicked him in the nuts right out of the gate. They clinch again with Stewart on inside position. They break, Barroso, lands clean cross, then body kick. Stewart tries takedown but couldn’t get it. Stewart lands a knee strike then Barroso takes him down, but Stewart got right back to his feet. In round 2, Stewart gets right to his feet but is slammed right down again from rear waist lock. Stewart up and then down again. Barroso rinse/repeat body lock takedowns. No damage but he’s wearing on the American. Barroso is working knees on the cage now. They exchanged to the finish. In round 3, Barroso lands hard 1-2, pushes forward inside once again. Stewart defends the wrestling advances, trading knees. They break. Moments later, they clinch, and Barroso went for a takedown, but Stewart defended. This went the distance. The judges gave the decision win to Barroso.

Timothy Johnson vs. Daniel Omielanczuk is next in a heavyweight bout. In round 1, they had a feeling out process early. Johnson lands a right and pushes Omielanczuk back against the cage after a referee break. In round 2, Johnson dirty boxing on the cage when no takedown comes. They break, Omielanczuk lands a jab then a big left. Johnson scored a takedown with one minute remaining in the round. In round 3, Johnson comes right out looking for a takedown to start the round. Both fighters land punches as they close distance. Omielanczuk stuffs shot. They exchanged to the finish. The judges gave the win to Johnson by split decision. 

Leon Edwards vs. Vicente Luque is next in a welterweight bout. In round 1, nice left hook from Luque right out of the gate. Luque clinched with him and put him against the fence. Edwards lands a body kick than one upstairs. They tie up, and Luque gets the takedown. Luque ends the round controlling the fight on the ground. In round 2, Edwards ducks in behind a punch for a takedown, gets put on the cage immediately. Edwards hits switch though and rips Luque down. Luque gets back to his feet. Huge body kick from Edwards. Luque seems to have really stopped pressuring with strikes. Edwards with a takedown puts Luque on his back and right into half guard. In round 3, Luque works for a takedown right out of the gate. Edwards hits the switch and takes his back. Edwards landing hard combinations. Lighting Luque up against the cage and then went for a takedown and they clinch. They exchanged and then Edwards took him down to end the fight. Edwards picked up the decision win.

Marc Diakiese vs. Teemu Packalen is next in a lightweight bout. Diakiese landed two spinning back kicks then a big right hand that put Packalen to sleep.

Scott Askham vs. Brad Scott is next in a middleweight bout. In round 1, Scott knocks Askham down with a big right hand. Askham is back up.Scott started pressing forward and close the distance. Askham is having some real trouble defending Scott’s low leg kicks. Scott started to wind up and land some big shots as Askham was pressed against the fence. Askham clinched, and they exchanged knee shots to end the round. In round 2, Scott still attacking the legs, Askham the body. Good combo for Askham. Askham pushed him down and got top position in half guard. Scott scrambled back to his feet, and they went back to striking. Askham’s leg is blown. Can’t put any weight on it. Scott landed a kick and Askham buckled hard.They have a wild exchange to end the round. In round 3, Askham’s leg is badly bruised, but he’s hanging in there. Reach, and output are keeping Scott tentative. They exchanged to the bell. Scott picked up the split decision win.

Opening the prelims is Lina Lansberg vs. Lucie Pudilova in a female bantamweight bout. In round 1, Lansberg came out and clinched with her right away. They stayed up against the fence then separated about a minute and a half later. Pudilova fends off another Lansberg clinch attempt, a snarl on her face. Pudilova pushes Lansberg into cage, lands skip knees. Lansberg lands knees as well. They exchange to the finish. In round 2, Lansberg catches a kick and walks her back to the fence. Body and head kick to score for Lansberg. Pudilova comes back with her own kick. Lansberg clinches with her and lands some knee shots. Pudilova unloading a combo against the cage while Lansberg seeked a takedown, which she got and fell into guard. Lansberg worked her over with strikes to end the round. In round 3, Pudilova landing a couple hard shots in a flurry and Lansberg forced into an ugly single leg. Pudilova defending well. They separate and start having a wild exchange. Lansberg was bleeding heavily from a cut. They exchanged to the bell. Lansberg earned the decision win.

Female Bantamweight Lina Lansberg def. Lucie Pudilova via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
