Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Emanuel Newton
There is no shortage of stories to tell about UFC, PRIDE and Bellator star Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, and two of the best come from his time at fellow fighter Antonio McKee’s gym.
For instance, McKee recalls that during one training session, ‘Rampage’ flew into a fit of rage after a sparring partner threw a spinning backfist that left him with a cut on his eye.
’Rampage’ apparently proceeded to grab the fighter and throw him over the top of the Octagon, and it then took four fighters and coaches to hold him back.
Needless to say, the unfortunate victim in that particular instance fled and ever returned.
However, topping that is a story recalled by McKee’s son A.J, who is also now a highly regarded prospect, but at the time was only 9 years old.
A.J vividly remembers sitting on the mat watching in awe as ‘Rampage’ got into an argument with a young, 20-year-old future Bellator 205-pound champion Emanuel Newton about who was the better wrestler.
As things became increasingly hostile, ‘Rampage’ warned Newton, “Don’t make me mad!” and then proceeded to effortlessly pick Newton up and slam him so hard back down onto the mat that he knocked one of his teeth out.
