UFC 142: Injury reduces card to 10 fights

The injury hit parade keeps rolling along for the UFC. It was announced today that light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado was forced to withdraw from UFC 142 due to an injury. Maldonado was scheduled to meet Caio Magalhaes on the January 14, fight card. With less than a week to find an opponent for Magalhaes, the UFC decided to remove him from the fight card, leaving the card with 10 fights at this point. UFC’s first Swedish fight card taking shape with six fights including Stann vs Sakara

The UFC will make its first trek to Sweden on April 14, 2012. The fight card will take place in Stockholm and according to MMAJunkie.com, it will air live on Fuel TV from the Ericsson Globe Arena beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Several fights have been booked for the card, including a middleweight scrap between Brian Stann and Alessio Sakara. UFC 142 is set to go down on January 14 from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main event on the card will feature a Featherweight title bout between Champion Jose Aldo and challenger, the undefeated Chad Mendes. Shane del Rosario leaves Strikeforce, signs with UFC

The Strikeforce Heavyweight division shrank by one more fighter today as Shane del Rosario signed with the UFC. The signing was initially reported via Iridium Sports Agency's twitter account. Del Rosario enters the UFC with a record of 11-0, with eight wins coming via knockout and three by way of submission. The deepest Del Rosario has ever gone in a fight was 1:07 into the second round.
