Rising lightweight fighter Josh Emmett had the opportunity of a lifetime when he was offered a chance to fight Jon Tuck on the preliminary card of today’s (Sun., May 8, 2016) UFC Fight Night 87 from the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

And the undefeated Team Alpha Male fighter did just that, showing great movement and striking accuracy to outpoint the more seasoned Tuck in throughout the first two rounds. However, he faced some serious adversity in the third and final round when a grazing kick broke his left ring finger, leaving him badly hurt as Tuck stalked him down with endless kicks.

Emmett was able to weather the relentless storm and somehow survive until the final bell, where the judges awarded him a close split decision victory. Emmett had a successful debut, pushing his record to a perfect 10-0 in the process, but you could tell that he had suffered an absolutely grotesque injury when he was revealed to have a compound fracture in his post-fight interview courtesy of UFC on FOX:

The break was further chronicled by Emmett’s Team Alpha Male teammate and cornerman Danny Castillo, who gave props to his fighter on his Facebook page with the following vicious video:

Ouch. He could be headed for a lengthy recovery stint, but Emmett made a splash in his UFC debut as a late replacement, and appears to be headed for bright things in the stacked UFC 155-pound division.
