Japanese Grabaka MMA Academy product Shigeyuki Uchiyama was involved in one of the most bizarre MMA moments in history, as his ear was torn off during a fight at Pancrase: Passion Tour 5. Uchiyama’s (9-1 before the fight) ear caught in the vertical ropes, during the takedown attempt by his opponent Masaya “J-Taro” Takita. The referee decided to stop the fight at 2:57 of Round 2, to award Takita a TKO Victory via Doctor Stoppage.
