James Krause Decisions Shane Campbell In Pittsburgh
The main card of UFC Fight Night 83 began with a lightweight bout featuring two fighters who looked to earn a second straight victory. The combatants were former W.K.A Muay Thai champion Shane Campbell (12-4) and Glory MMA and Fitness standout James Krause (23-7).
Campbell threw out the first leg kick, which was caught. Krause pressured his opponent against the fence, but he ate a knee. “Shaolin” reversed the position and wound up in top control for a brief moment. “The James Krause” delivered a knee to Campbell before the two separated. Krause landed an uppercut and followed it up with a hook.
The two traded shots with Krause getting the better of the exchange. “Shaolin” connected with a right hand to the jaw. Krause changed levels and took Campbell down. With 25 seconds left in the first round, Krause took the back of his opponent and locked in a choke, but the horn sounded.
Less than 20 seconds in the second stanza, Krause found himself on his back. Krause went for an armbar, but decided to roll over and return standing. Krause attempted to take the back of “Shaolin,” but settled for a takedown. Eventually, Krause took the back of Campbell. He locked in the choke, but Campbell escaped and hit his opponent with a knee to the body. Krause landed a knee and engaged in a clinch with “Shaolin.” The round ended with Krause in full guard.
Campbell connected with a leg kick early in the final frame. He then found the target with his body kick. Krause had his head kick blocked. Krause worked hard for a takedown, but Campbell’s balance thwarted the attempts. Campbell wound up in top control and briefly got the back of Krause. The final horn sounded with Campbell in mount throwing a bevy of punches.
Final Result: James Krause def. Shane Campbell via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
