A UFC Winner At 19, The Future Is Bright For Sage Northcutt

It seems as if the UFC has found its next big thing, or at least a superstar in the making. Leading up to last night’s (October 3, 2015) UFC 192 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, 19-year-old lightweight phenom “Super” Sage Northcutt was receiving a ton of hype, and attention.

Having trained in martial arts nearly since he could walk, Northcutt was recently discovered on the amateur circuit by UFC president Dana White. White’s eyes probably lit up as Northcutt walked to the cage. “Super” Sage, a model with a constant smile, and a well-rounded skill set carved from years of karate to go with it, seems to have a bright future ahead of him.

That being said, his debut blew the roof off of the Toyota Center, as the fans were on their feet screaming. Northcutt came out firing, putting Francisco Trevino away in less than a minute. The crowd roared as “Super” Sage conducted his post-fight interview, and performed some sort of crazy flip along with it.

Apparently this has been the plan all along for the young man from Katy, Texas:

“I was put on the cover of Sport Karate magazine, and at 9 years old, I said I’m going to fight in the UFC and be on TV – so I called it,” Northcutt (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC), 19, said backstage (Via MMAJunkie) after flattening FTrevino (12-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in 57 seconds on the UFC Fight Pass-streamed prelims of UFC 192 at Houston’s Toyota Center.

Despite his age, it seems as if nerves weren’t an issue for Northcutt, and he doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon:

“I’m ready right now,” he said. “If I could fight two fights on this night, I would right now.”

It will be intriguing to see how things unfold for the rising 155-pound star. Who should “Super” Sage face off with next?
