Michelle Waterson vs. Paige VanZant Full Fight Video Highlights
The feature bout of tonight’s (Sat., December 17, 2016) UFC on FOX 22 from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, was supposed to feature the continued rise of women’s strawweight starlet Paige VanZant, who trains out of nearby Team Alpha Male.
Fresh off a star-boosting runner-up finish on “Dancing With The Stars” and a switch-kick KO of Bec Rawlings, “12 Gauge” was looking to become one of the UFC’s foremost faces by defeating former Invicta atomweight champion Michelle Waterson, the touted talent who had been limited to only one UFC bout in 17 months due to some recurring hand injuries.
However, the fight didn’t turn out in her favor, and it wasn’t all that close. After a brief striking exchange and a clinch, Waterson threw VanZant to the mat with a judo throw ad immediately took her back to lock in a rear-naked choke. It was tight, and although “12 Gauge” showed amazing toughness in resisting the hold, she eventually went out and forced John McCarthy to call off the fight.
