After securing one of the biggest wins of his decorated UFC career over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182, reigning light heavyweight king Jon “Bones” Jones has been surrounded with controversy. A few days after his huge victory, news broke that the champion had shockingly tested positive for cocaine metabolites and had entered rehab. News then broke from Jones’ mother, who said that “Bones” had only spent one day in rehab, and even more questions began to swirl.

Last night (January 19, 2015) the first exclusive interview with Jones since the drug test failure was presented on Fox Sports Live, and the champion opened up about the whole situation. Today (January 20, 2015) it seems as if we have gained even more information on the scenario.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has confirmed that all of Jones’ post-fight drug tests came back negative, and MMAFighting’s Marc Raimondi had the details:

“All of the UFC light heavyweight champion’s drug tests have come back clean,” Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) executive director Bob Bennett told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday.

“Jones’ post-fight carbon isotope ratio (CIR) test reportedly returned clean last week. And Jones was found to be clean of street drugs in a separate test taken after UFC 182 on Jan. 3, too. Those results came back this week. Bennett said he would have the official documents out to the media within the next 48 hours.”

There was also some speculation that Jones had been using PED’s, which has been proved untrue by these tests. Besides the cocaine metabolites, another suspicious thing about the out-of-competition test done on the champion, was his abnormally low T/E ratios. The CIR test that was done would be able to prove if Jones’ testosterone was synthetic or natural, and obviously everything came back normal.

Besides a 25 thousand dollar fine, the Albuquerque native will not have to worry about losing his belt or anything of that nature. Cocaine is not a banned substance, and the test done on Jones should not have even been done according to the NSAC. Therefore, in essence he did nothing wrong.
