Reigning UFC bantamweight champion Dominick “The Dominator” Cruz returned last January to regain the title he had never technically lost, scoring a decision victory over TJ Dillashaw.

After battling a string of injuries over the last four years, Cruz now appears to be healthy and it was thought that he would make the first defense of his new reign in a long-awaited trilogy bout against former WEC champion Urijah Faber.

UFC President Dana White officially announced at today’s (March 4, 2016) UFC: Unstoppable press conference that Cruz and Faber will meet for the third time in the co-main event of June 4’s UFC 199 from the L.A. Forum in Los Angeles, California.

The two men have split wins and losses throughout their bitter rivalry with “The California Kid” scoring a submission victory over Cruz back in 2007, and “The Dominator” picking up a decision win in the rematch back in 2011.

Faber has now won three of his last four bouts including victories over Alex Caceres, Francisco Rivera, and most recently Frankie Saenz.

Cruz, despite his troubled history with injuries, is a man many consider to be the best 135 pounder of all-time, possessing a near perfect 21-1 record with his only career loss coming to Faber.

UFC 199 is set to be headlined by a middleweight title rematch between divisional kingpin Luke Rockhold and ex-boss Chris Weidman.
