Robbery? Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit Scorecards & Strike Stats

FotorCreated2222

Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit ended in a split decision victory for ‘Ruthless’ to keep the belt, but a lot of media and fans have questioned the scoring. Here’s the scorecards and stats…

UFC 195 is in the books, and it was quite the event in Las Vegas, Nevada. The heavyweight co-main attraction ended in a sub-60-second finish for Stipe Miocic, as he reopened a wound we all thought had healed for Andrei Arlovski. Apparently the durability he showed in fights with Brendan Schaub and Travis Browne was simply not there at UFC 195, and ‘The Pitbull’ got put down early on.

Carlos Condit and Robbie Lawler put on a five round thriller for the fans, but it was far less decisive than the co-main event. In typical welterweight title fight fashion, this one went down to the wire, and many media scoring pundits had the fight going to ‘The Natural Born Killer.’ As it stands, Lawler got the split decision, and there seems to be varying opinions on how the fight was scored. Of course there’s a division between fans who thought it was clearly a win for ‘Ruthless,’ or for Condit, but there’s also the opinion that it was a very close fight, and not clear cut in any way.

It’s fair to say the fight stats don’t reflect the power or conviction that the strikes were thrown with. It was Lawler who hunted for the finish with big power strikes, albeit far less than Condit’s volume striking, which he clearly landed far more of. What do you think? We’ve seen many close run decisions in the welterweight championship fights of late, including both fights between Lawler and Johny Hendricks, Hendrick’s robbery against George St-Pierre, and most of GSP’s later title defenses in general.

Where do you think, if at all, Lawler vs. Condit ranks among these razor tight decisions in 170-pound title fights?
