Jon Jones

Among all of the best American MMA fighters ever, there is one athlete who stands above them all. Jon Jones is no doubt, the reigning king of the sport and arguably the greatest MMA fighter ever.

Jones is a once in a lifetime athlete, who has dominated the UFC for over three decades. For years, Bones was the light heavyweight king, where broke every division record there was.

Then late in his career, Jon came out of retirement to move to the heavyweight division and took that title. Without question, Jones is head and shoulders above his peers and is the greatest ever.

Demetrious Johnson

Demetrious Johnson is one of the greatest American MMA fighters ever, who doesn’t get enough respect. Mighty Mouse, was the king of the UFC flyweight division, who broke nearly every division record. 

During his reign as flyweight champ, Johnson beat everyone from Henry Cejudo, Ray Borg, John Dodson, and Kyoji Horiguchi. Then after getting traded to ONE Championship, Demetrious continued adding on to his remarkable legacy.

He went on to win the ONE flyweight title twice and is currently the reigning champ once again. Mighty Mouse is an easy choice for one of the best American MMA fighters ever and one of the all-time greats.

Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier is another easy choice for being one of the best American MMA fighters ever. The Louisiana native was an extremely talented fighter, who possessed both elite wrestling and KO power.

Cormier is most known for his bitter feud with rival Jon Jones, but he also created an impressive legacy. During Cormier’s career, he won both the UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight championships.

Defending both belts a total of 4 times to prove his legitimacy as champion. Daniel will always be considered one of the all time greats.

Stipe Miocic

Next up on our best American MMA fighters list is the heavyweight legend Stipe Miocic. Stipe, like Mighty Mouse, does not get enough respect for his impressive resume.

He is one of only a few fighters to ever become a 2x UFC heavyweight champion. Miocic currently holds the record for most heavyweight title defenses with 3 and would also like a 3rd title reign.

Stipe is already considered an all-time great, but could be considered the GOAT if he beats Jones. 

Randy Couture
