Jorge Masvidal vs. Daron Cruickshank Slated For UFC On FOX 12 In July
UFC on Fox 12 is shaping up to be one of the best Fox Sports cards of the year, and that was before the UFC announced today that Jorge Masvidal and Daron Cruickshank would square off in a lightweight battle on the San Jose based card. It seems the UFC is bringing back a few familiar faces to California with Strikeforce veterans Josh Thomson, who faces Michael Johnson, and now ‘Gamebred’.
Clay Guida was the inaugural lightweight champion in the days of the San Jose based promotion, and he faces Denis Bermudez on the main card at UFC on Fox 12. Masvidal is coming off a convincing unanimous decision win over Pat Healy at UFC on Fox 11, and will look to make it 4-1 for the UFC against the surging Daron Cruickshank.
‘The Detroit Superstar’ may have the nickname of a 70’s porn star, but don’t be fooled, this guy is raw. A second degree black belt in TKD, and a former NCAA division III wrestler, Cruickshank has really hit his stride as of late. DC has scored two brutal TK wins over Mike Rio and Erik Kich in his latest outings, and a win over Masvidal could well set the Michigan native up for a huge fight.
