Rising welterweight contenders Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Curtis Millender met in the co-main event of tonight’s (Sat., March 9, 2019) UFC on ESPN+ 4 at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

Dos Santos had won six straight fights in the UFC after losing his Octagon debut in 2015. He most recently stopped Luigi Vedramini and Sean Strickland via knockout. Not to be outdone, Millender had won nine straight bouts including three in the UFC. He most recently outlasted longtime vet Siyar Bahadurzada at December 29’s UFC 232.

The fight would determine one of the welterweight division’s most promising rising stars.

Round One:

Dos Santos landed a body kick early. He immediately went for a takedown and Millender attempted a guillotine. Dos Santos got out and smothered Millender. He went to work and soon took Millender’s back. He couldn’t lock on a choke but mounted Millender.

Dos Santos soon went back to the back and locked on the choke tight this time. Millender fought it off for a few seconds but had absolutely nowhere to go.

He was about to pass out but tapped out. Fight over. Quite the win streak for dos Santos.

Final Result: Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos def. Curtis Millender via R1 submission (rear-naked choke, 2:35)
