According to a report from Globo, courtesy of Ariel Helwani via Twitter, Demetious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson is out of his flyweight title defense against Wilson Reis at UFC 201 later this month:

Johnson (24-2-1) is coming off of a dominant title defense at UFC 197, in which he downed former Olympic gold medalist wrestler Henry Cejudo in the first round via TKO.

Mighty’ Mouse hasn’t lost since 2011 when he took on Dominick Cruz for the 135-pound title before going on to win the inaugural flyweight title in 2012.

Reis (20-6) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dustin Ortiz in January, and has won three of his last five bouts in the UFC since 2014.

Reis was viewed as a rather odd choice to challenge ‘Mighty Mouse’s’ throne, as he is the No 8-ranked flyweight in the UFC and doesn’t hold any truly impressive victories in the division.

It will be interesting to see how the UFC books Johnson upon his return form injury, and if Reis will remain the front runner for a shot at the title.

UFC 201 is headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Robbie Lawler and No. 3-ranked Tyron Woodley live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on July 30, 2016.
