Wanderlei Silva Wants To Settle The Score With ‘Desperate’ Dan, Hendo Accepts Challenge

(Yeah, the irony wasn’t lost on me either)

The story surrounding Pride FC champion and UFC middleweight Wanderlei Silva continues to evolve, and the recent announcement that the NSAC was still on his case may suggest that it was time to put ‘The Axe Murderer’ out to pasture. It appears though, as transcribed by Bloodyelbow.com, that Silva is still hunting for a fight:

“I want to be back soon to make the 50th fight of my career. I would like it to be in a special card. It’s not news that I want to face Vitor Belfort or Chael Sonnen. But Dan Henderson is other guy that I want to fight, it’s a viable possibility. We’re 1-1 tied and it would be nice to have a tiebreaker of our score. In my last fight at Pride, I lost my belt to him and I couldn’t have a rematch because we left. If this fight happens, I’ll ask him to bring the belt so the winner can have it after the fight. This fight could happen in any place of the world. It would be beautiful to happen at a soccer stadium in Curitiba, Brazil, where I’m from.”

Even at this stage in both legend’s careers, I’d say yes to seeing that fight. That being said, Silva is yet to address his complicated, and somewhat confusing situation at present. With the Nevada Athletic Commission still at the door, ‘The Axe Murderer’ may just be daydreaming with his call out of old foe Hendo.

Henderson too is in a tricky spot right now, having only won one from his last four, and looking sluggish and small against Daniel Cormier at UFC 173. The submission loss may well have stated what was on all of our minds; it may be time for Hendo to call it quits. There is still fight in the old dog though, as he responded to Wanderlei over Twitter:

So, two war-torn, battle hardened warriors want to settle the score, in the midst of the TRT ban and drug test controversy. Hey, why not?

I think we all just want to see Wanderlei get his ass whooped. So, yes, would love to see Hendo take care of that.

    • I think it would be a fair swan song for both guys…

  • Hey Wand, it's either Brasil or the moon hey?
