Wanderlei Silva Wants To Make Chael Sonnen Pay, Hints At TUF: Brazil vs. USA

images 253Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen’s storied career paths will cross when they conclude their upcoming season of TUF Brazil, bringing to boil years of animosity between the two legends. ‘The Axe Murderer’ has been very outspoken in his trash talk about Sonnen, probably due to the years of bad mouthing that Chael P has directed towards Silva and Brazil.

Things almost got out of hand at last month’s Mr Olympia expo, as Silva squared up to ‘The American Gangster’ and hurled abuse as he was restrained by team mates. Silva originally tried to barter for a cut of the PPV’s if he fought Sonnen, to which he was denied. The upcoming season of TUF could possibly pay more dividends for the aging legend, although a loss to Sonnen could spell the end of his path in MMA.

Silva was on hand to talk with MMAFighting.com regarding his opposing coach for TUF: Brazil:

“We’re going to give the fans a great show. It’s going to be interesting … I believe it could be even more interesting with Chael coaching American fighters,”

Silva always comes to fight; the battle he had against Brian Stann is proof of that, and his vicious knockout spree in Pride FC made The Axe Murderer a fan favorite.

“We need big ratings. If we don’t pull good numbers on the TV we might not get another season (in Brazil), so we need to do a good show for the fans, and I believe it would be better with a Brazil vs. USA season. It makes no sense to have him here coaching Brazilian fighters.”

Sonnen’s recent stint as coach opposite Jon Jones showed us a different side to the gangster that fans love to hate, but Silva feels differently.

“”He’s a douche bag, but that’s part of the deal … I know that, in the end, I’ll make him pay inside the Octagon for everything he says. I expect a great win, and I want a knockout.”

I really hope Silva has what it takes to beat Sonnen, but something in the back of my mind tells me that it will be a long five rounds on his back. Sonnen’s wrestling could very well be the deciding factor against the Muay Thai specialist, as much as I hate to admit that.

What would it take for Silva to win? Probably a huge bomb early on.
