UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman urged fans to ‘join his team’ after he won his fourth consecutive title fight over heated rival Vitor Belfort in the co-main event of last Saturday night’s (May 23, 2015) UFC 187 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was a gutsy come-from-behind performance from the 185-pound ruler that was made all the more impressive by the fact that he nearly crapped his pants during the walkout.

While it’s still unknown just how many of Weidman’s doubters have converted, there is one high-profile figure that apparently loved what ‘The All-American’ did in the Octagon last weekend. That man is someone who knows a thing or two about rivalries with decorated Brazilian fighters.

Headed into his pivotal title fight against longtime featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 189 on July 11 from Vegas, popular Irish superstar Conor McGregor seemed quite enthused to congratulate Weidman at the 2:50 mark of UFC 187: The Thrill and the Agony above.

Weidman has taken out Anderson Silva (albeit controversially) two times, Lyoto Machida, and now Belfort, yet there is still a relatively large contingent of fans who believe he’s a ‘fluke’ champion who doesn’t deserve the belt. McGregor, however, apparently is not one of them. Are you?
