"If judging fighting is strictly a numbers game you may have a point with GSP. Theres more to fighting than that imo. Listing GSP's finishes, really doesn't do much for folks that have watched alot of his fights. So many greats fight injured,i assume the majority of them do, and most take more chances in the ring than George, look at Silva getting punched in the face by Sonnen for 5 rounds before finishing him. Coming back from adversity indeed. He's a great guy, a role model ,honourable and humble even with his years of dominance over the WW division. I do like em as a person ofcourse."

" "who's the all time great?" is a subjective question and it's such a young sport. And as the sport is evolving so fast, the talent level will only rise in the next few years when the question is asked again and people question these top fighters win streaks vs quality of current opponents at the time. I guess the better title would be "who's the best so far?" I like to look at fighters at thier very best, and judge them in thier prime. Idc if Ali, Tyson, Jones Jr, Fedor,Coture all ended on losses, almost every fighter does. History doesn't judge these people by thier worst performances. As the overall best technical skill and consistency it's obvious to me (and most others) A.Silva is number 1. He's done things in the ring that people didn't think they would see before him, he clowns people at will, making pro fighters look like amateurs. The rest of the list is easier to break down by weight class: LW: BJ is high up there with silva on the all time list skill wise. the mix of boxing, tdd, bjj is still some of the best we've seen. WW: GSP for consistency, and solid skills in every aspect of fighting with no weakness anywhere (I'd point out silva's lack of wrestling def, bj's cardio and lack of kicks/muay thai). LH: LIddel in his prime I'd say was most dominant. HW: Fedor was a beast in his prime (no one throws a power punch like that guy, he tried to actually punch thru people) amazing subs and wrestling, fighting bigger opponents and the 10 yr (?) unbeaten streak. I left out the rising stars, Aldo,Pettis,Benson, Mc Donald, Jones. They will be on the list in a few years, and are the future of the sport imo. "

"Thats a bit of a cheapshot, and I'm not a huge gsp fan. Diaz has got to be one of the hardest to finish in mma. The champ did what he had to do to win the fight, alot of time was spent on the feet too and gsp kept em at bay with the jabs. Where was Diaz's finish? he basically looked flat all fight, thats not gsp's fault."

"I'd say you're right UG, I get the impression George feels a bit slighted by Silva. Could be the rivalry with Penn, whom Silva often praised as the most gifted fighter, while overlooking george all together. More likely its the Silvas constant challenge of george he wants to defeat em before retireing it seems. Perhaps to put an L on GSP's record and knock em down on the p4p list. Who knows, but yeah theres some animosity brewing no doubt."
