UFC considers holding a major event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by the end of the year

And you thought the Cowboys stadium was going to be a big deal.

The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting that while both Dana White and Las Vegas Motor Speedway President Chris Powell, were bring inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame this past weekend, they struck up a conversation regarding the potential for a UFC event at the utterly massive venue.

No official word from either party as of yet, but more importantly I think we have to ask the question, is this even possible? Or is Dana and the UFC simply thinking too far beyond their reach and capability?

Regardless of the event’s feasability, both sides seem to like the idea. While speaking briefly with the news paper, Dana recently commented on the potential event:

“I like it. It would be cool as hell, and we have a few fights coming up that could pull it off.”

While the possibility of this type of event happening at this specific venueis very slim, it would no doubt be monumental in terms of draw, attendence and overall spectacle.

With a venue capacity of 142,000, the UFC would almost triple their previous attendence record which took place in Toronto for their first stadium show ever, raking in an attendence of approx 55,000 people.

Realistically the only fight that could happen in such a location would have to be a champion vs champion superfight featuring a combination of two of the top three ranked pound for pound best fighters.

Otherwise you’d have to stack the card with title matches from top to bottom in order to successfully draw those kinds of numbers.

Jeez. Talk about ambitious. What do you guys think of the idea?
