UFC 168 Knockout Party: Anderson Silva’s Best

Anderson Silva’s UFC career is scattered with fantastic knockouts, but few are as unbelievable as his UFC 101 fight against Forrest Griffin. ‘The Spider’ fought The Ultimate Fighter winner at 205lbs., a step up from his Championship category of Middleweight.

What transpired was an epic display of masterful striking and timing, a combination that Griffin was simply unprepared for. Silva put Griffin out of his misery with relative ease, and looked like a total boss while doing it.

Next up is the UFC 126 title defense against Vitor Belfort, and this was such an amazing knockout I just wish I was there to see it. The two Brazilian legends had exchanged some harsh words in the lead up to their title clash, and it all came to boil in the opening round.

Silva was light on his feet, as always, measuring and looking for an opening, and after three minutes it came. Silva threw an accurate front kick that rocked Belfort’s chin as he came in, and the rest is history. Skip to 14:50 for the finish.

Finally on the list is Silva’s destruction of James ‘The Sandman’ Irvin at Ultimate Fight Night 14. Silva was fresh off his submission win over Dan Henderson, having unified the Pride Welterweight and UFC Middleweight straps at UFC 82. He looked very clinical and very angry when he stepped in against Irvin.

The bout didn’t even last as long as Bruce Buffer’s intro, as Silva scored yet another fantastic KO win, only strengthening the future argument for his number one pound for pound placement. Enjoy the video below and stay tuned to LowKick! All videos courtesy of UFC.com
