UFC 167 Numbers Released: Card Does Second-Biggest Gate Ever

The numbers are in for last Saturday’s UFC 167, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the finding that the event garnered the second biggest gate in UFC history.

Here are the official numbers for the event from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, courtesy of MMA.tv:

Live Gate: $5,759,350

Tickets: 13,621 sold, 1,235 comped, 57 unsold

The almost six million-dollar haul comes in a close second to only UFC 148, which featured the highly anticipated rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. That card drew in a staggering $6,901,655.

UFC 167 marked GSP’s first fight outside the confines of his homeland of Canada in three years. St. Pierre, who announced that he’s taking time off from MMA following his incredibly controversial split decision win over Johny Hendricks, has shown he has the drawing power to obtain huge numbers regardless of where he fights.

Pay-per-view numbers for the event have not been released as of yet.

That’s something that Dana White is obviously not too happy about losing out on. While the UFC president is confident that he can get GSP vs. Hendricks II booked soon, the champ still appears to be taking time off.

Will he continue to leave the fans hanging as he figures out his next move? Hendricks came forth with harsh criticism for GSP last night, saying that everyone has problems sleeping, citing his three kids as his cause. “Bigg Rigg” believes that if GSP doesn’t want to be champion any longer he should just retire.

But will the allure of huge numbers like these keep St. Pierre on the sidelines for too much longer? The saga rolls on.
