UFC 162 Dana White Media Scrum: Anderson Silva Will Be Like, ‘I Want That F****** Belt Back’

A very visibly drained Dana White appears in his UFC 162 post-fight media scrum to address the many topics of discussion that tend to arise with a card of that magnitude. An interviewer asks white if he thinks that Anderson Silva has  bit of relief about him after his loss to Chris Weidman, to which White said it was maybe half true.

He also believes that Silva will want the rematch for sure once he allows the loss to sink in. However, all of the proposed super fights that White had on his table are toast for the moment. White admits that he is exhausted and pissed off, and was getting visibly angered at the reporters’ questions.

White also acknowledged that Roy Jones Jr. was bummed out about Silva’s loss, because he was interested in boxing The Spider. White addressed the absolute shock among fans around the world when Silva actually got knocked out. He also said that he thinks Silva will take the rematch much more seriously and not clown around. White believes that Silva will soon want the belt back after having held it for so long:

  • if silva wants to take longer than 6-8 months off, pls give vitor the shot at weidman!!

    • Agreed. I don't think the belt should go undefended just because Silva wants a vacation. Who knows; at his age Anderson may decide he is done.

      • @Choke…you watch the UFC dictate what Weidman does next. IF Anderson doesn't want to fight for another 8 months they will both be sitting out I imagine…If Anderson wants a rematch in Brazil he will get it.

last night was just a joke, the number one rule is to protect your chin and keep your hands up. I would be pissed if I placed money on Silva.

    • I'd say silva should just come back to beat weidman and then leave. He's his own worst enemy and it totally shows in every ACTUAL loss he has that looks like a circus.

    • look Silva is oneof the smartest fighters ive seen he signed a like 10 fight
contract so at least 3-4 yrs he has no worries on what he will do or longer and
did it before his fight so you know he is getting paid so he is set for a semi retirment he isnt going to take the rematch so everyone is what if…. so if and is more like when cause all great fighters have to give it one more try he has that
?? ….. he can take the break of being a god take his time and 2rs from now have all his fans back him as he makes that insane run again…..

  • I think there's a reason ufc has been cold about vitor getting a title shot. They see that fans and media have been hot on the TRT topic with Belfort because of his past steroid usage and couple that with the fact he may be bigger, faster, and stronger than ever and it's a possible public relations nightmare for Zuffa and mma.

  • If Belfort wins the title its a public relations nightmare I meant.

  • Hey Dana, maybe it's time to leave Silva alone now, he has made you enough money already. Silva has no interest in being a champ any longer, so it's best to leave him alone.

  • Best thing about Silva losing is that we finally can stop talking about these STUPID super fights. Thank you Weidman, now all we need is for Jones to fight a 205p for the first time in almost 2 years.

    • I don't call trying to get a couple of the greatest fighters in the human race's history to square off a stupid idea, in fact I think it may be one thing I looked back on in 50 years and be saddened I never saw (if Andy doesn't fight one of them)

      • Really? The idea isn't stupid. The "Anderson wants to fight GSP cause he is smaller, GSP will only fight at 170 against Anderson, and Anderson thinks he will lose to Jones" is STUPID!!!!

  • There are positives to Anderson losing. a) It will be an awesome rematch. b) Should Jones beat Gustaffson he will be free to fight Texeria. c) Should GSP beat Hendriks he will be free to fight Maia who is a huge threat to his title. So for the sacrifice of one superfight, we have three awesome fights.

    • That's a good point Murph. Def could be some silver lining

      • how does everyone feel about Anderson fighting bones if he destroys Weidman in a rematch….?

Can the interest be recreated or is it simply lost now? have we run out of time and missed the boat

        • Hrd to tell enjoy, I think we're still to close to judge fairly what it would feel like and it depends how god he looks against Weidman

          • @keith…suspense kills me in this sport, injuries and everything else that goes on…it seems like we get more talk of superfights than action. I was really looking forward to the pettis fight until it got cancelled….The Weidman/Silva saga is going to take time to resolve

  • There will be a rematch…money talks people and the fix was in last night regardless of how it happened . Weidman vs Silva 2 will happen. Think about it Silva has prolly 3 fights left Weidman for a huge pay day and then GSP and then J.Jones….retirement.

  • I really hope he gets the rematch and takes it seriously.

    • If the rematch happens i'm putting a LOT of money on Silva… that's all i know….

      • Yeah, I'm not a betting man but I might do likewise. He might even be the underdog in the odds. Could make a lot of money.

  • Baby Hilter is pizzed about the money.

  • I don't think he (Silva) should get a rematch if he wants to take a break It's not fair for all the other fighters to wait in line. Now with Silva losing I am waiting for his next match, I do feel sorry for his next opponent.

  • Weidman wins the rematch.

    • Silva just lost his entire aura of invincibility. That's it.

  • Bisping can be beat Weidman,Vitor will destroy him!

  • More than anything I have wanted to see in my time loving this sport, even more than any superfight, I want to see Anderson try to avenge his lone UFC loss!

    • I agree with you Kieth. I was never too excited about super fights but a Silva Weidman 2 can potentially turn out to be the biggest fight ever. In my opinion, Dana should focus on making this fight happen more than the super fights. Chances are that he will end up making more money than the super fights.

For me, as a Silva fan, I want that rematch more than any other fight. I know Silva is better, far better, than Weidman can ever be and he can beat Weidman in no more than 2 rounds. Just sad that it did not happen last night.
